Research Director

Dr. Md Nazmus Sadekin is a Professor in the Department of Economics at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University. He currently serves as the Dean of the Social Science Faculty at the institution and previously held the position of Chairman of the Economics Department. His research interests include Resource Economics, Environmental Economics, Development Economics, and Wage Inequality. His work integrates empirical analysis with policy-focused research, with a particular emphasis on issues relevant to developing countries.

An accomplished scholar, Professor Sadekin is a renowned economist and policy expert, recognized both in Bangladesh and internationally for his insightful contributions to contemporary economic issues. He is a frequent commentator on economic affairs in major media outlets and has published his research in numerous esteemed journals, book chapters, newspapers, and presented at seminars.

In addition to his role at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Professor Sadekin has served as an adjunct faculty member at various private and public universities, both nationally and internationally. Through his diverse roles as a researcher, advisor, educator, and columnist, Dr. Sadekin continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Bangladesh’s economic discourse and its position within the broader South Asian context.

He earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Economics from the University of Dhaka. He obtained Ph.D degree in economics from Universiti Utara Malaysia ( UUM).
